Running Man

A quick update on the quest for the for the first 5K. Right now I am still working through the walk run phase. I got some great advice from some other runners Tom, Leslie and Matt. I begin the second phase this week with a little more running than walking. I am stoked that I put in an 11:30 mile. I didn't run it all but I loved the time. I'm reading that the first two miles are the hardest, my hope is to be running 2 miles without walking by march 30Th. I can tell my cardio is improving because the recovery time is getting better between intervals, all working towards the Winery 5K in May.
I'm cool for any advice or tips, thanks K

Story Time Part 2

Thursday late afternoon I made a new friend, His name is Alex.
Alex came over to ask some questions about God. It was a great time of getting to know him and help with some questions that we all have at times in our lives. Alex is a cool guy, loves football and plays basketball and baseball. Gets straight A's and best of all on Thursday, January 17th at 5:46, Alex asked Jesus to be His Friend and the Leader of his life. Yup, at 5:46 there was a serious party going on in Heaven with a banner with Alex's name on it. When I told him that he unleashed a big smile and a high five. Looking at that big smile I asked Alex, "How do you feel"? Still smiling he said, "Great".
Alex came with some questions and left with a Forever Friend, definitely time to Party!

Story Time

Stories are some of the best things in Ministry. Actually Christianity is a story that's continually being written in the hearts and lives of those who come into contact with Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Main Character and we get to play a part in this epic story of God's Redemption of man. So as stories go let me start with this one....
A few weeks ago I received a call from a mom. She said "Kevin I want you to know that Kidstuf is impacting my son" She told me about an incident over the Christmas break where her son was angry, the virtue for the month was Peace, she explained that he left her a note that said something like this....

Mom and Dad, I am mad right now. I am not going to say anything. I will let the Anger out first, and then I will tell you I am sorry.

She went on to say, Kevin this stuff is sinking in, Thanks.

Hey this goes out to all the Kidstuffers, from host to tech, to singers to actors and all in between. I want you to know that you are making a difference in the lives of families. Every weekend we are blessed with many people who show up for the first time and I know that every weekend you all go FULL ON to introduce them to Jesus.
It is such a privilege to serve God with you.
Thanks for playing your part in the story.

I work great in noisy places

Every Monday I take time to plan my week. I go off-site to my favorite place to work on stuf. That would be Borders. Where else can you get a great chai, grab a magazine and read books for free.
Today I noticed something, I can concentrate like a surgeon in the midst of borders chaos....cafe noise, people talking and moving around, I don't know what it is but my ADD is neutralized in that environment. Today I pounded out some serious work and when it comes to planning for some reason I just do it best away from the office. I wonder if it's because I don't know anyone or the noise and smells inspire focused creativity.
Bottom Line.....I Love Mondays at Borders.

OH???

Buckeye Fan, I know the nation is still healing from last weeks beat down at the hands of LSU, actually I was rooting for the Big Ten, but I must point out as only a Michigan Fan can that a night can really start off bad when the flag guys mess up the spelling of the state in front of millions. I just have one thing to say....4 Letters dude, I've been hearing it for the last 10 years...OH....IO.

I Smell Ikea

Today I day tripped to Ikea in Pittsburgh. Dude, I love that place, it gets my creativity flowing. I like to create environments that inspire and today's project was my office. I was on the hunt for some things that are functional as well as aesthetic. Creataliscious! I believe in creative spaces and their ability to bring about a measured amount of inspired ADD. Well, I got some cool stuff and even better it's cheap, I'll post some pics when I'm finished. So on a slightly weird note, does anyone know the Ikea smell? I believe there is some sort of aroma marketing strategy going on there, And yes I know they have a restaurant.
I'm talking about a smell that sticks with you, I'm at home and I still smell it. Just wondering if it's just me or does anyone else smell Ikea?

Confessions of a Fat Guy

Hi, my name is Kevin and i'm fat........Hi Kevin!

So since Christmas and NewYears I have set some physical goals. However I need your support. Smack that creamstick out of my hand, Pinch my gut, cheer me on.
My goal is to run in the Winery 5k in May.

Looking for My "big boy pants".

Everyone at sometime in their lives has a defining moment, one that shapes your way of thinking, following or leading.
Well 2007 provided that for me, it was a challenging year and as the year ended I was challenged to put on my "big boy pants" as a leader. Bam!, I needed to hear that and it wasn't long after that I began to search for that in my life and leadership.
At first I thought it was a mind set but it ended up being much more than that. The search has taken me to a place called emotional health and the discovery that it was way more to do with a process than a mindset. A process of true freedom that's found by embracing Gods Love. Spiritual growth is messy and challenging and it never stops it's all about surrender and embracing the truth about yourself and working it out.
So my mission this year is to experience that freedom through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Bottom line, "big boy pants" is the by product of an emotional healthy spiritual life and I'm committed to working to that end for as long as it takes.
