Great Book

Samson and the pirate monks.
Weird title but awesome book for men. It's written by Nate Larkin and he's calling Men to an Authentic Brotherhood.
True Accountability!
It has spoke to me as I have been on a journey to Emotional Health and working towards Ridiculous Freedom.
I meet with two amazing guys Jim and Duane every thursday night at 9pm. We have been together for the last 3 years and have unpacked a mess of stuff, but nothing compared to what's flowing right now. Intimacy and trust is key to that level of disclosure and I thank God for those guys. They hear me out and cheer me on. They don't try to fix me...they can't, but they listen and accept me and offer their thoughts and prayers. I'm changing and as I read Nates story I'm encouraged that he raises that bannner for guys... cause face it...were messed up!
The book is a primer if your thinking about starting a TRUE accountability group.
I highly recommend it and it makes a nice gift for your husband if you desire to see him grow.

5K Update

Things are going well in the training for the Winery 5K in May. Today I entered the run 5 minutes and walk 1 minute phase, I do that 5x with a ten minute warm up and a five minute cool down. I felt like I could run longer than 5. The cardio side of running is going better than the knee side. I purchased new shoes, Asics 1130 a step up from the 1120 that I had before. I am experiencing some knee pain nothing a little Ibuprofin couldn't handle. The whole treadmill thing is cool right now but I can understand when people say that running outside is way better. Question has anyone ever transitioned from treadmill to road? I got a feeling that it's not the same. Any tips would be great. K

The Front Lines

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a concert with my son Nate. It just wasn't any concert, it was my first ever Heavy Metal concert complete with smoke filled room and mosh pit. We were there to see a band called, As I Lay Dying. A metal band known in the Christian world because of the testimonies of the band members and their positive message. They were also with another band called August Burns Red, a band with similar values and beliefs. The venue was in Pittsburg called Mr. Smalls an old church turned nightclub. There were other bands there as well and needless to say they were far from positive. It was interesting that the under card had to promote themselves through over acting and profanity while the headliners August and As I... let the Music do the talking.
ABR prayed together on stage prior to their performance and with out a doubt their front man was having a vertical moment while singing on stage, seriously he was Worshiping right there. It blew me away. It was funny later when the room was singing along with AILD and were singing lyrics that were written to God.
On the way home we talked about how their mission was go into hell and bring them out. There is no doubt that God Loves all those people so much that He is using what is current to say what is timeless. It's the Front Lines in the battle for the eternities
of everyone there that night and the battle continues in clubs and concert venues everywhere.
